The festive season is a time for giving, togetherness, and spreading joy. This year, Athena Care Homes Christmas market events at Alex Wood House and Langdon House in Cambridge, and Ashlynn Grange in Peterborough captured that spirit beautifully. CPSL Mind’s fundraising team headed down to support the events.
With festive fun for the whole family, two events brought the care homes together with the local community to raise much-needed funds for Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, and South Lincolnshire (CPSL) Mind.
Each of the care homes offered something special to mark the season. At Alex Wood House in Arbury, Cambridge, visitors were treated to the magical sight of real reindeer, along with mulled wine, mince pies, carol singing, and a selection of beautiful gifts and decorations to buy.
Alex Wood House General Manager Julie Fuller, said, “It was a fantastic day at Alex Wood House which has truly put us all in the Christmas spirit. Our residents loved creating items to sell, and knowing their work supported CPSL Mind gave them a great sense of purpose and wellbeing.”
Athena Customer Relationship Manager Amber Christou highlighted the impact of the events and said, “The winter fayres have been truly magical, bringing together our residents and the local community in a wonderful celebration of Christmas spirit and togetherness.
“Raising funds for CPSL Mind has been an incredible achievement, and we are so proud to support this vital charity, especially during the festive season. It has been heartwarming to see the joy and generosity of everyone involved, making these fayres a truly special highlight of the year.”
Debbie Glonek, CPSL Mind’s Fundraising and Events Coordinator said, “A great thanks to all the staff at Athena Care Homes for organising the Christmas Fayres at the two Cambridge Homes. Connection is so important all year round and this time of year really highlights the importance of community connections. We had great fun and I was made to feel very welcome. We had Mickey and Minnie Football, which the children had great fun taking part in. There was a real community feel at both homes with the residents of the home, the volunteers, the staff and those that visited. I am sure everyone had great fun and I felt the warmth in the building. We are all looking forward to heading into the new year with lots of ideas working together to promote wellbeing within mental health and also fundraising to help support these local services.”
