Exploring the topic of overthinking is the aim of Cambridge local Sara Parodi’s project ‘How Many Times’ with her creation of a zine which she has made available to buy.
By exploring overthinking, Sara hopes to raise awareness on how the process of negative thinking can affect a person’s life and this is captured by an illustrated narrative to visually evoke the mechanism of overthinking and the feelings that can arise. And, at the same time as raising awareness, Sara hopes to raise funds for us with a percentage of the sale of the zine going towards our work.
“Negative thoughts are something you experience, but don’t tangibly see so it was important to me in giving them a concrete body,” Sara explains. “Making worrying thoughts visible was a personal way to give time to my own self to look at them and make them look manageable and powerless.”
“From this project what I desire to achieve is that it will have a social benefit to the community. I hope it will let people, who find themselves struggling or trapped in negative thoughts, feel that they are less alone and that they are not the only ones. I also hope that it will inspire others to talk about this topic more openly, and on the other hand, to openly listen about it.”
Fundraising Manager Gary Sutcliffe fully supports Sara’s project saying, “This is a very interesting and innovative project, and we are grateful to Sara for creating such a detailed concept and for her raising awareness and hopefully some funds for our charity.”
The zine is an A5 format, 28 pages, printed on recycled paper.
