The sun may not be shining (yet) but we know just how important it is to still get outside in nature and blow the cobwebs away after the festive season. What better way to start 2025 by a bracing walk around the wonderful city of Cambridge?
Our CPSL Mind Winter Walk will be so much more than a walk about town – we will walk 9.6 miles (15.5km) over 14 bridges in the historic city of Cambridge, sharing historic facts along the way and using the River Cam as our guide. So, look up at the skies, notice the different trees and the way they move in the wind, spot the local wildlife hiding in the bushes and enjoy the wonderful natural rhythm of walking. It can be difficult to plot out a route that clocks up the miles, so we’ve worked that out for you…
The Bridges of Cambridge Walk is a great way to see the heart of Cambridge and walk the city end to end. You will see, the best of the city centre and its colleges, the unique commons of the city, including Stourbridge and Midsummer Commons, Jesus Green and Coe Fen. You will also walk along the famous ‘backs’ of the colleges.
You will come across sights you have never seen before and areas of the city you didn’t know existed. Not everyone walks at the same speed, so we will have different pacers from team CPSL Mind in the group and there will be a couple of stops along the route for refreshments. We will be sharing wellbeing tips and support people on the walk who may be struggling with their mental health, and we will be joined by CPSL Mind supporters who will be sharing their stories with walkers on the day.
You can sign up as an individual, but we would really like to encourage people to get a team together and come up with that all important team name! The more the merrier.
Debbie Glonek, Fundraising and Events Coordinator at CPSL Mind said, “We are really looking forward to seeing people at this new exciting event. Please come and join us for a bracing winter walk through Cambridge to see some lovely sights, start conversations, and help us to raise vital funds to support, develop and grow our services. During 2023/24 we supported more than 6,000 people, so please join us to reach more. We are really looking forward to seeing you and your friends, colleagues, and family, in the new year.”
