Melbourn FC smash fundraising target and continue their journey

44 players, family members and friends of Melbourn FC agreed to take part in a virtual challenge to run or walk the 3,000km from their home pitch to the Champions League Final at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.

During the month of March, 44 players, family members and friends of Melbourn FC agreed to take part in a virtual challenge to run or walk the 3,000km from their home pitch, The Moor in Melbourn, to the Champions League Final at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.

They originally set themselves a target of £1,000 to be donated to us. However, due to the phenomenal efforts of so many people, they reached their destination in just 14 days, raising a fantastic £2,000. The club has now decided to extend the event and return from Istanbul, doubling the challenge to 6,000 km and raising their fundraising target to a staggering £3,000.

Chay Wilson, First Team Manager, said, “It was never the club’s intention and we could not have imagined the efforts from everyone so far would have got us this distance in just 14 days! We’d like to thank everyone who has supported us with a fundraising donation so far.”

Zoe Doherty, Fundraising Consultant commented, “We have been so impressed with Melbourn FCs dedication in completing their challenge in just 14 days and raising so much money in the process. We have thoroughly enjoyed watching their progress on social media and seeing all the photos that have been taken. They have already raised an enormous amount of money and I am certain they will reach their £3,000 target by the end of the month. Thank you so much to the 44 amazing individuals who are taking part and to everyone who has donated so generously”.
