It is a fundraising bonanza at Perkins Engines Company Limited this spring and summer with both their employees and Young Professionals taking part in tasty and daring activities.
A bake sale, the 3 Peaks Challenge and finally a sky dive all aim to raise money for us. First up was a bake sale, organised by the Young Professionals to support their 3 Peaks Challenge later in the summer.
‘We had some amazing cakes and I’m really happy to report we raised £390.50 at the bake sale,’ said Joana Leitch, pictured at the cake stall.
Theema Numanit will be one of the Young Professionals tackling the 3 Peaks Challenge in June, which involves climbing Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales, all within 24 hours.
‘It’s going to be a challenge,’ said Theema. ‘I enjoy hiking and being with nature and that overwhelming feeling of wow, you can sometimes feel so small. Raising money for CPSL Mind is great, as mental health is close to me.’
Then, in July, a team of employees will be jumping out of a plane at an airfield near Peterborough in a tandem skydive.
Janine Eaton and Jon Robinson, pictured, will be two of them.
‘I have seen friends struggle with mental health,’ explained Janine. ‘And I know of the great work of CPSL Mind from people who have used their services.’
Jon explained how different a sky dive is and how he hoped that by doing something different and ‘pushing the boat out, it would give people more reason to give’.
Gary Sutcliffe, our Fundraising Manager said: “It is fantastic supporting Perkins in all these activities. The bake sale was exactly like how it used to be, pre-pandemic, and the 3 Peaks and skydive are huge challenges. We are truly grateful to all those taking part and wish them all the best of luck.’
