There are many ways to spend a Sunday morning but, for five employees of Perkins Engines Company Limited, jumping out of a plane at over 10,000 foot was certainly not among the most relaxing.
But, one by one, that is exactly what they did in a tandem skydive near Peterborough, freefalling and floating and raising thousands of pounds for us.
“It was one of the greatest experiences of my life and a great feeling that I was able to do it for such a good cause,” said Stephen, one of the jumpers.
“No nerves, full confidence in the instructor and a near perfect day for a jump. 13,000 ft converts to about 2.5 miles up so a great achievement. In fact Sunday my step counter recorded 2.2miles walking, crazy to know that I fell further than I walked on Sunday,” he added.
For Ewa, another jumper, there were nerves, but it was all worth it in the end.
“All I can say… it was amazing. Worth every minute of stress and if I could, I would have gone back and done it again straight after landing.”
And for skydiver Tony, it was, simply “one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life”.
Gary Sutcliffe, our Fundraising Manager was very grateful to the whole team of skydivers.
“What a challenge for a Sunday morning. The weather was perfect, and the pictures are amazing. We are so grateful to all five skydivers from Perkins for taking on this challenge and raising a fantastic amount of money to help us support local residents in their recovery from mental health challenges. And, if anyone is tempted to experience this exhilarating skydive, we have our inaugural annual skydive planned for Saturday 17th September, so please do get in touch to find out more.”
