Street artist Nathan Murdoch is set to transform a row of unsightly garage doors by painting portraits of inspirational people to help raise awareness of mental health.
Nathan, who in recent years has wowed Peterborough residents with his stunning works, is set to start work on Monday, 27th June, and will spray paint the portraits onto a row of garage doors near The Burghley Club/St Mark’s Street Peterborough – and he hopes people will come along and take a look.
‘The garages are unsightly at the moment, we have permission to work on them, and we hope people can come and visit them during and after this project,’ explained Nathan. ‘I’m going to be doing portraits of influential people with mental health challenges on the doors, all in a row. It will be colourful, abstract, bright and vibrant’
Nathan hopes the project will help to get people talking about mental health and mental health challenges and get people talking.
‘It is not a negative. It will be a public piece of art to get people talking. It will be celebrating inspirational people and I hope the artwork creates conversations that may help someone’.
With a focus on mental health, Nathan has linked up with us and we are very excited about the work.
Gary Sutcliffe, Fundraising Manager said ‘This looks like a brilliant piece of work, and we are grateful to Nathan for taking the time to consider, and paint, these portraits and start a conversation around mental health. 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health issue in any given year and as your local mental health charity we are passionate about positive wellbeing and providing support to local residents who experience mental health challenges. ‘
